CELESTIAL TRAX – Vulnerable

BurntOutCase is back by the way. Did we ever leave?

Shanghai Den Vs Drew Lustman

Massive summer vibes going on here. With elements comparable to Pariah’s earlier work, this infusion of Chicago House and some Floating Points-styled jazzy wonderment is not to be pigeonholed with the work of other artists, there’s a definite look to the future here, but also a very much welcomed look back towards the deeply rooted Detroit House/Techno influences. Big sounds here from FaltyDL’s Brooklyn label, Blueberry Recordings.

Personal favourite

Julsy – Broken Transmissions

A slight change of pace here, but totally justified. Echoes of Broadcast and Grouper sat nicely on a bed of lo-fi static and vinyl warmth. Not for our die-hard house fans, more of an drone ambience here, but one that we welcome. That’s probably enough pretension before I go too Yoko Ono with this one. In short, a great evolving piece of music.

MOSIS – On Ur Side

A nice return to the scene with this track from US producer MOSIS. Large 808 kicks string together chopped, diced and generally fucked with vocal edits. Quite minimal, but has a tropical feel to it with the addition of some Jamie XX-styled steel drum rhythms in the mix. A welcomed return.

Close – My Way feat. Joe Dukie (Midland Remix)

Deep evolving bassline with a pleasing sprinkle of light percussion over the top. Beautifully deep as per usual from Midland here, out now on Berlin’s !K7 Records.
